How does a geothermal system work?
A geothermal system uses a series of underground pipes — a ground loop — to exchange heat with the earth. Just a few feet down, the ground around Dayton stays a constant 55°F year-round. In winter the loop absorbs that stored warmth and a heat pump concentrates it to heat your home; in summer the process reverses, moving heat out of your home and into the cooler ground.
